The European Research Council (ERC) has granted a five-year project, Atomic Insight Cavity Array Reactor, (ATOMICAR) with the aim to finally start to answer the ultimate question in nanoparticle catalysis:
- How, in atomic detail, does the catalytic reaction happen on the nanoparticles?
In order to address this question experimentally, it is necessary to quantitatively measure the catalytic conversion of single, isolated nanoparticle under relevant reaction conditions which requires an unprecedented sensitivity of about 1000 chemical turnovers/s or better. This goal will be achieved via indirect measurement of the reaction rate in a “cavity array reactor chip” which you will fabricate.
One PhD scholarship in Compositional Simulation with Geochemical Reactions for Underground CO2 Storage is available at Center for Energy Resources Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (CERE DTU).
CO2 sequestration in large underground geological structures like saline aquifers and petroleum reservoirs is a major mean to reduce CO2 emission in large scale. For the success of CO2 storage and especially its long term safety, it is important to simulate the process with considerations of the relevant geochemical reactions.
The scope of the project covers improvement of an existing compositional reservoir simulator, development of efficient algorithms for multiphase equilibrium with geochemical reaction, and incorporation of the developed geochemical reaction module into the compositional reservoir simulation
A 3-year PhD scholarship in Structural and Computational Biology is available at Department of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark. The position will be available from the 15th of April 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project focuses on obtaining a molecular understanding of the freeze-drying (lyophilization) process of protein formulations. The challenge with these freeze-dried formulations is that proteins are exposed to an environment far from physiological conditions.
The lyophilization is a complex process that generates stress to the structural integrity of proteins. This stress is caused by for instance changes in the physicochemical properties of the solution during the freeze-drying process (e.g. increased ionic strength, change in pH).

The Metabolomics Core Facility at the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine (DTU Metabolomics Core) has an opening for a position as operational manager (AC TAP). The position will be available from June 2018.
