The European Spallation Source (ESS) is a partnership of 13 European countries with the mission to design, construct and operate the world’s most powerful neutron source. We are now looking to appoint a summer worker for the Materials Science and Physics Support (MSPS) group in the Science Directorate.  The MSPS team is responsible for delivering and maintaining sample environment systems in the fields of magnetic and electrical fields, low and high temperature, high pressure and mechanical processing to the neutrons instruments. About the work As summer worker as Sample environment technician your main role will be to work on a sample changer. Your tasks will include to: • Finish the mechanical assembly of a sample changer • Test the equipment and determine possible collisions • Write the sequence of commands to be able to run an experiment with this sample environment. • Write a manual for the equipment About you A suitable background for this work would be: • Knowledge of mechanical assembly • Good ability in hands-on work • Knowledge of python programming • Good written and oral communications skills in English We attach great importance to personality and attitude, so we're looking for a real team player: Someone who is sociable, has excellent communication skills and who likes to collaborate with different people.  Duration & Location The position is a summer work position, of 1 month.  Your work place will be situated in Lund, Sweden.  Start date Planned start date is July the 1st, 2024.   Application & Contact Please provide your curriculum vitae in English by clicking on “apply” and follow the instructions. Please note that we only accept applications via the ESS website.
