Join our team as a Design Specialist and contribute to the development of high-performing and sustainable products utilizing premium steels. You will play a pivotal role in collaborating with our customers to develop innovative design concepts that leverage SSAB steels to achieve strength, lightweight, and productivity. As a Design Specialist, you will be responsible for material data generation, structural analysis, and the development of conceptual designs. Step into an exciting role where you combine technical expertise and collaboration skills to shape the steel products for the future.

The program will start in September/October. You will be well taken care of on the location that you will have your position. During the program of 14 months, you will be invited to physical meetings with the rest of the participants in the program to so called Basecamps. The Basecamps will include interesting topics that will support your kick start in the company, mill visits and other important things to support your understanding of SSAB in general and the challenging but oh so interesting journey that lies ahead. Besides the Basecamps you will get your very own senior mentor, and individual onboarding program connected to your specific position where you together with your mentor will plan for an individualized customized study trip to any of our SSAB Europe offices to suit you and your development in the best way possible. Beyond the activities related to the program, you will be placed in an actual position and already from the start be introduced to the assignments and tasks related to your position.

Main responsibilities

• You will work closely with customers on developing design concepts utilizing premium steel properties
• You will provide technical recommendations, expert advice and support for customers
• You will run development of material test methods, data analysis and modelling. Provide material data internally and for customers
• You will give technical presentations and hold educations in internal and external forums
• You will work with colleagues from R&D, business development, sales and marketing as well as customers on a global arena.

About you

• Bachelor's or Master´s degree* in Mechanical or Materials Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred. *Recently graduated: maximum 24 months since graduation counted from the start of the program
• Solid English skill
• Solid knowledge in the local language for the location you are applying to
