DESCRIPTION: Middle School PE Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principal, Vice Principal, Pedagogical Leader of Expressive Arts

Starting: August 12, 2024 (Full-time, Temporary 1 year contract)

The PE Teacher is responsible and qualified to:

• Plan and teach all grade 5-9 Physical and Health education
• Contribute to implementation of the curriculum.
• Ensure safe transportation and learning environment for students.
• Contribute to some administrative duties within the PE Department.
• Contribute to some preparational duties within IPC/ IMYC.
• Be an active and contributing member of the School’s faculty.
• Participate in the full range of professional activities in the school.
• Actively contribute to the operational needs of the school.
• Organize location bookings for off campus activities, classes, and facilities
• Organize school-wide events such as Sports Day, Ski Trip, Brain Awareness Week, etc.
• Ability to mentor a Middle School class (responsibility for academic, behavioural, emotional, and social well-being of a mentor class along with being the first point of contact for parent communication).

Qualifications, Attributes and Experience the Middle School PE Teacher is expected to have:

• Certified teaching credentials.
• Experience teaching PE (PE qualifications desired).
• Proficiency in English - proficiency in Swedish is an asset
• Experience with working with students or groups.
• Experience in coaching, leadership, and organizational roles.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• The ability to establish rapport with adults and learners.
• The ability to work effectively in a team.
• The ability to show initiative and work independently.

Experience working with students from diverse cultures and countries would be an advantage.
