Background

In Scania's vehicles, electrical power is distributed through central electrical units. A main pillar of Scania's design philosophy is Modularisation: common interfaces that enable a wide range of vehicle variants. This modularity introduces complexity and extensive manual work when assigning fuses to different configurations.

Objective

The purpose of this thesis work is to analyse how vehicle configurations affect fuse allocation and to develop a data-driven method to automate and optimise the fuse population process in our modular vehicle electrical systems.

Job description

The student will analyse vehicle and electrical system data from Scania's databases to identify patterns and dependencies between configurations and fuse layouts. Based on this analysis, a prototype algorithm or AI-based tool will be developed to automate fuse allocation while fulfilling design and safety constraints. The work will be carried out in collaboration with Scania's electrical system and data engineering teams.
